Out of all the college admissions representatives who visited sophomore Wes Comfort's high school, one stood out in his mind: Terri Blake.
Watch an audio slideshow featuring Blake.
Comfort was instantly drawn to her outgoing personality and found her enthusiasm and dedication refreshing.
"She treated you like a person," Comfort said of his experience with Blake. "You're not another number to her."
Considering she makes more than 90 phone calls a week and visits an average of five high schools a day, remembering students names is a grand feat.
"I have a lot of one-on-one relationships with incoming students," Blake, senior associate director of admissions, said. "My favorite part about my job is building relationships with students and their family."
Some students have found that this one-on-one relationship Blake forms with students during high school doesn't disappear at Baker.
"She keeps relationships," Comfort said. "She doesn't let her busy schedule keep her from talking to you."
Blake agrees with Comfort about her fast-paced life, saying she likes it that way.
"There is never a dull moment," she said. "One day is never the same from the next."
Some days, specifically Baker Visit Days, Blake said she is more active than usual.
During a Baker Weekend, Blake said she wore a pedometer to gauge her steps and was shocked to learn that she walked six miles in the course of that Saturday.
"After I saw that, I decided I didn't have to go to the gym that day," she said.
All Blake's hard work pays off for some students, like sophomore Brandi Dority.
Dority enjoyed the campus tour she took last school year crediting Blake's personality with her positive experience.
